Like Steve Jobs said during his commencement
speech at Standford University, "we must learn to connect the dots of our
lives backwards ".
When you connect the dots backwards you have a
better understanding of why you are where you are and how you got there.
Such is the case of Jacky Teplitzky .
When her father uprooted her and the family at
the age of 10 from Chille to Israel, little did she know that the culture shock
and language barrier she faced ( she could only speak Spanish in a place where
Hebrew was spoken) would prepare her for the world ahead.
Jacky Teplitzky who today is recognized as the
MVP of real estate ; with achievements that has placed her and her team in the
top 1% of successful brokers had a humbly beginning & faced lots of
obstacles like most of us.
The major reason for her success is that she has
learnt how to maximize her past experiences to work for her present and Future;
and there are 3 key lessons we can learn from her life.
Imagine being taken away form everything you
know now to some foreign place where you
barely understand what is being said.
That was the case for Jacky when she was 10 years of
age. She left life as she
knew it in Chile when her family migrated to Israel, became the joke of
the
class and even skipped classes so she could go out and smoke cigarette. But that
experience
did not drown her; rather she came out a Polyglot - with the ability
to speak Spanish, Hebrew,
English and French ; a competitive edge in the
business world
2. DO YOUR BEST WHERE YOU ARE NOW; IT MIGHT HOLD
THE KEY TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL :
Too many people enter a job through the front
door and leave via the fence. When Jackie finished school she
found herself in
the tourism industry, after which she was conscripted to the Israeli army.
After her service at
the Israeli army, she returned to her tourism job where
she exceled. By 28 she was running the
North
American office for one of Spain's largest tourism conglomerates. She was
transferred, promoted and
relocated so many times that change became
consistency.
Jackie's success and
reputation came in handy when she ventured into the world of real estate
because her j
job was one which grew mainly via referrals.
She had worked in
different countries, met several people and understood them with their needs.
After the 9/11 attacks when nobody was buying, Jackie reached out to her
international market telling them
now was the time to buy.
“I build my business so it’s all
about how it will suit the client for the long-term, and then they refer me to
others. Because my business is one which grows mainly by referrals, taking the
time to research the best homes for each specific client pays off”….Jackie Teplitzky
3. TOGETHER EACH
ACHIEVES MORE (T.E.A.M):
There's only so much
you can do alone. Jackie realized this while she was a drill sergeant in the
Israeli
army.Teplitzky trained
recruits: how to shoot guns, get in shape, and work as a team. She barked at
them at 1
a.m. to wake them up.
"They'd
never met each other before," says Teplitzky. "It was a challenge for
me to get people from all different walks of life to work together.". The
same "Team-manship" is what Jackie brought to the world of business.
She realized she needed other people's strenghts and went ahead to Shired a
publicist, business adviser and graphic artists.
I hired
a senior broker, a junior broker to handle rentals, and began to assemble
different skill sets to make sure I could sell the entire island of Manhattan,
all price points, and not lose any ground in any particular location.".
Working as teams has never failed any business, especially when you have the
right people on the bus.
